IMAGE PROCESSING
4.1 OVERVIEW
The light from the halogen lamp is reflected by the original onto the CCD
board. The CCD board has a CCD (Charge Coupled Device) with a
three-line (RGB) filter. The reflected light is converted to analog image data
signals, and these are transferred to the scanner IPU board. The scanner
IPU board does the following: A/D conversion (to 8-bit data), shading, D/A
conversion for compensations, scan line correction, and image processing.
The processed digital video signals (4 bits per pixel for each color: BK, C, M,
Y) are sent to the printer unit through the data bus. Note that the 8-bit data is
converted to 4-bit data; this is to reduce processing time in the printer
section.
The SCU board contains default settings for the various video processes.
